Downtown Riverhead just got a flavorful new addition: Olga’s, a welcoming restaurant offering a delicious fusion of Guatemalan and American classics. Located at 40B East Main Street, Olga’s is a family-run eatery that brings the warmth of home-cooked meals and a community-focused spirit to one of Main Street’s bustling corners.
The restaurant is the second venture from a local Guatemalan immigrant family who opened Olga’s Deli in East Quogue in 2015. After nearly a decade of success, they chose to expand their vision and bring their food to a wider audience in Riverhead. The new space allows them to create a casual, welcoming atmosphere for locals to enjoy meals with their families.
The business is managed by daughter Olga Vargas, who handles the front of house operations, while her mother, Olga Chucuy, oversees the kitchen. Together, they bring a blend of tradition and hospitality that reflects both their roots and their dedication to the community.
Olga’s menu features a mix of Guatemalan and Spanish favorites — including tacos and mixtas, a popular street food consisting of a hot dog wrapped in a tortilla and loaded with condiments — alongside American staples such as sandwiches, cheeseburgers, and breakfast served all day. The offerings are approachable, flavorful, and designed to appeal to a diverse clientele.
Riverhead was a natural choice for the family’s second location, given its strong Guatemalan population and the family’s connection to the area. After moving from Guatemala to Westhampton Beach and later settling in Riverhead, they saw an opportunity to create a new neighborhood gathering spot downtown. Their opening was celebrated by both local patrons and visiting friends and family, marking an exciting milestone for the business.
