Located on Race Lane, this playful pizzeria takes inspiration from summer camp nostalgia while weaving in rustic Italian charm. The result is a restaurant that feels both familiar and refreshingly original, with a sense of fun running through every detail.
The concept is co-owned by restaurateur Maria Pappalardo, whose family’s legacy includes the original Rubirosa in Manhattan, and entrepreneur Brian Bedol, who brought the idea to life locally. While rooted in the celebrated flavors of the city location, Camp Rubirosa adds its own twist, introducing diners to a lighter, whimsical version of the brand. Signature items like the Tie-Dye pizza, with its blend of vodka sauce, tomato sauce, mozzarella, and pesto, bring the camp theme to life in a way that’s both playful and crave-worthy.
Design plays a major role in the experience. The restaurant’s interiors feel like a dining hall with a touch of glamping elegance—wood beams, camp-themed kitsch, and artful touches that spark nostalgia without ever feeling overly staged. Many of the pieces were sourced from Facebook Marketplace and Etsy, paired with local craftsmanship to create a collected, lived-in look. The entrance alone, resembling a glampsite portal, sets the tone for an experience that’s equal parts stylish and lighthearted.
