East Hampton Launches New Online Applications Portal

The Town of East Hampton has rolled out a new digital applications system designed to modernize how residents interact with local government. Powered by OpenGov, the platform now serves as the hub for submitting permits, licenses, and applications across several town departments.

All Planning Department applications must now be filed through the OpenGov portal, and beginning May 19, the Building Department will also transition fully to online submissions. Departments including Marine Patrol and Ordinance are already live on the system. Residents can begin using the portal immediately by creating an account on the town’s website, ehamptonny.gov.

The move represents a shift away from paper-based processes toward a more efficient, transparent, and environmentally sustainable approach. Applicants will be able to submit forms, track progress, pay fees, and receive automatic updates through the portal, helping to streamline communication between departments and residents.

Officials note that some delays may occur during the transition period as staff adapt from a hybrid model of paper and digital applications. The town has asked for patience while departments complete the changeover.

East Hampton leaders see the adoption of OpenGov as a step toward making government more accessible and responsive to community needs. By cutting down on paperwork and offering convenient online tools, the system aims to improve both efficiency and the overall experience for residents.
