Schmidt’s Market Finds a New Home in Quogue

More than two years ago, a familiar Southampton staple made a fresh start to the west: Schmidt’s Market relocated to the former Quogue Country Market space, bringing its longtime following and signature offerings to a new community.

After 43 years in Southampton Village, the sale of the North Sea Road building led to the closure of the original location. The Quogue space offered a practical opportunity — a recently renovated, 4,800-square-foot property with a layout ready for immediate use.

The move also created a smoother daily routine for owner Dan Schmidt, who lives in Hampton Bays and welcomed the shorter commute. The new location allowed the market to maintain its core identity while adapting to a slightly smaller footprint.

Schmidt’s quickly reintroduced many of the items customers loved most: fresh produce, grab-and-go meals, hot food, and the well-known salad bar. Early-morning hours and accessible pricing helped reconnect with longtime regulars while attracting workers and residents throughout Quogue.

What began as a necessary relocation has since become a natural fit — preserving a beloved Hamptons business while welcoming a new chapter in a new village.
