About two and a half years ago, ActivatedWellness opened its doors in Shelter Island Heights, bringing a new approach to fitness and holistic wellness on the East End. Located at 13 Grand Avenue, the studio was founded by Sag Harbor native Amber Pagano and designed as a bright, welcoming space focused on strength, mobility and overall well-being.
Fitness has long been part of Pagano’s life. Growing up on the East End, she spent time at Sag Harbor’s former American Fitness Factory, where her mother worked at the front desk. That early exposure to the fitness world eventually evolved into a career that blends strength training with a broader understanding of body mechanics and recovery.
ActivatedWellness offers both small group classes and private training sessions that combine weightlifting, resistance bands and functional movement exercises. The training philosophy incorporates elements of breath work, muscle activation, mobility and stability to support full-body strength and injury prevention. Pagano’s background as a licensed massage therapist also informs her approach, allowing her to address structural issues and help clients recover from physical strain or post-rehabilitation challenges.
The studio’s opening on Shelter Island followed the success of Pagano’s first location in Riverhead, which quickly outgrew its initial space after launching in 2022. The larger Shelter Island Heights location allowed for more equipment, including free weights, ropes, an assault bike and other training tools, while maintaining small class sizes that allow for individualized attention.
Today, ActivatedWellness remains part of the growing wellness movement across the East End, offering residents and seasonal visitors a personalized approach to fitness. With its focus on strength, mobility and mindful training, the studio reflects the region’s increasing emphasis on health, balance and community-centered wellness experiences.
