A staple of the Mattituck community is entering a new chapter as longtime owner Scott Tyler has sold his repair shop to fellow North Fork residents Bobby and Diana Kehl. The transition at 6795 Main Road marks a passing of the torch between two families dedicated to the local automotive industry. Tyler, who operated the garage for nearly 40 years, sought buyers who would maintain the high standard of service and personal relationships he established since opening in 1986.
The new owners are well-known in the region as the proprietors of All Power Performance in Cutchogue. Bobby Kehl, a 39-year-old Mattituck native, began his career at Eastern Tire before launching his own successful business in 2012. By acquiring the Scott Tyler location, the Kehls plan to keep the existing staff while expanding the shop’s capabilities to include a wider range of specialty services.
In addition to traditional maintenance, the Kehls are bringing their expertise in custom automotive work to Mattituck. Their offerings include tuning, exhaust systems, cam installations, and lift kits. A significant specialty for the new team is the mechanical restoration of older vehicles, providing “front-to-back” updates to engines, transmissions, and suspensions. Mr. Kehl is also committed to using original manufacturer parts over aftermarket alternatives to ensure dealership-quality repairs for Ford, Chevy, and Dodge owners.
This acquisition effectively broadens the service options for local residents and fleet owners. Previously, certain heavy-duty repairs or specialized fleet needs required a trip to a distant dealership; now, those services will be handled locally on Main Road. While the Kehls already draw a loyal following from across the Peconic Bay and as far as Connecticut, this physical storefront provides a more accessible hub for their growing clientele.
As the Kehls settle into the Mattituck location, Scott Tyler is transitioning into a well-earned retirement focused on golf, skiing, and travel. For the North Fork community, the sale represents the ideal business evolution: a local legacy preserved and enhanced by a new generation of entrepreneurs.
