East Hampton Town has officially finalized an open-space transaction aimed at safeguarding environmental resources near Lake Montauk. Following public review, municipal leaders approved formal measures to acquire two adjacent undeveloped properties spanning roughly 1.63 acres along Lakeside Court. The purchase, structured with a cap of $3 million plus standard transaction expenses, will be funded through the town’s dedicated Community Preservation Fund (CPF).

The parcels—located at 10 and 14 Lakeside Court—represent a key win in preventing residential density expansion within an ecologically sensitive coastal sub-watershed. By converting the vacant land into permanently protected open space, the town will mitigate stormwater runoff, reduce potential nitrogen loading into local aquifers, and protect adjacent wetland habitats. The approved transaction acquires the title from the Charles A. Krasne 2023 Revocable Trust.

With the approval process finalized, East Hampton secures a critical environmental investment that safeguards water quality and preserves open space for the surrounding community.
