The Peconic Land Trust is advancing a major renovation campaign at Bridge Gardens, its five-acre public botanical oasis in the heart of Bridgehampton. Recognized with a design award from AIA Peconic, the architectural master plan centers on transforming the site’s original garden house into an expanded, year-round welcome center and educational facility.

The planned multi-phase enhancements focus on elevating community access and environmental demonstration capabilities across both the Inner and Outer Gardens. Architectural updates will feature indoor classroom spaces, potting workshop areas, administrative quarters, and interactive exhibit rooms. In alignment with the Trust’s ecological stewardship mission, the site improvements integrate a high-performance vegetated wetland wastewater treatment system to protect local groundwater recharge zones and nearby watershed bodies like Kellis Pond and Mecox Bay.

Serving as a public living laboratory since its donation to the Trust, Bridge Gardens offers extensive demonstration beds, an expansive herb knot garden, community plot spaces, and a historic collection of antique and modern roses. The modernized facility will expand seasonal programming into a year-round slate of workshops covering sustainable horticulture, native plant conservation, local food production, and hands-on community art events.
