Suffolk County has introduced the 2025 Small Business Sewer Infrastructure Financial Assistance (SIFA) Grant Program, a new initiative designed to support clean water goals while helping local businesses thrive. This pilot program offers grants of up to $15,000 for eligible small businesses with 25 employees or fewer to connect their properties to County sewer facilities.
The program is limited to business owners who own or lease properties where operations are taking place. Applicants must demonstrate legal responsibility for sewer connection costs, and the property must not have been connected to a County Sewer District before May 9, 2023. All costs submitted must be documented and reimbursable under program guidelines.
Applications will be reviewed in the order they are received, and only fully completed submissions will be considered. Businesses can apply through the SIFA Application Portal or by mailing their materials to the Suffolk County Department of Economic Development and Planning in Hauppauge.
The program is an important step toward improving water quality, strengthening infrastructure, and supporting small business sustainability across Suffolk County. By reducing upfront costs for sewer connections, the initiative helps local entrepreneurs focus on growth while ensuring compliance with modern environmental standards.
