A New Year-Round Culinary Anchor Arrives in Sag Harbor

Main Street’s dining landscape has welcomed a deeply personal addition with the debut of Miracle. Occupying the intimate storefront at 29 Main Street—previously home to the wine bar Vin Sur Vingt—this New American tavern and lounge represents a homecoming for cofounder Michael Nolan. A third-generation resident of the historic whaling village, Nolan has joined forces with his life partner and designer Helen Gifford to build a warm, community-focused gathering space that stays open for locals and visitors through all four seasons.

The design of the space diverges completely from standard coastal white-and-blue palettes, drawing rich aesthetic inspiration from historic, cozy London pubs. Gifford, a Parsons School of Design graduate and founder of the bespoke lighting brand HelenBilt, collaborated directly with regional East End woodworkers and artisans to build out the interior. Focusing heavily on ambient, warm illumination, rich textures, and comfortable seating, the room is engineered to feel like a protective sanctuary, enveloping guests in a relaxing space that balances classic European pub hospitality with the creative spirit of the South Fork.

In the kitchen, the culinary program is directed by Chef Jesus Gonzales, the talented chef behind East Hampton’s beloved Fresno Restaurant (which Nolan also co-founded). Gonzales’s menu features modern American fare that highlights the changing agricultural cycles of the East End. Rather than relying on rigid, year-round imports, the kitchen coordinates directly with local farmstands and fishermen to secure highly fresh, seasonal ingredients for both the lunch and dinner services.

By committing to a year-round operational schedule, the restaurant serves as a reliable anchor for the local community long after the summer crowds disperse. Whether you are dropping in for a casual weekday lunch, a quiet afternoon drink, or an intimate dinner during the colder months, the tavern provides a beautiful, craftsman-built backdrop to celebrate the enduring character of Sag Harbor.
