A sweeping 107.8-acre preserved agricultural property in Jamesport is entering its next era under new ownership while maintaining its long-standing commitment to equine care. Situated along Main Road, the historic parcel—formerly known as B.J. Farms—has been purchased by local residents Ken and Debra Rothwell, who are rebranding the facility as Thunder Road Stables.

Protected from development since 1979 through Suffolk County’s agricultural preservation program, the farm has provided boarding, breeding, and training for generations of horses. The new operators plan to maintain the existing operations for the roughly 50 horses currently residing on-site, providing tailored care for harness racers, pleasure horses, and retirees alike. To support year-round training and equestrian activities, the owners are advancing plans to construct a modern, 110-by-220-foot indoor riding arena complete with updated footing, enhanced lighting, and associated infrastructure.

By investing in necessary facility upgrades while keeping the expansive North Fork footprint dedicated strictly to commercial equine operations, the transition ensures that the landmark property remains a functional, open-space agricultural asset for the East End community.
