A major transformation at Belmont Park Racetrack has officially debuted, marking the completion of a $450 million redevelopment aimed at establishing a premier entertainment venue for the region. State executive leadership, community representatives, and Long Island Hospitality Association President Dorothy Roberts gathered on-site to mark the venue’s official reopening. The overhaul represents a strategic capital investment designed to revitalize regional horse racing while providing a substantial economic stimulus to Long Island’s hospitality and visitor economy.
The updated master plan significantly optimizes the property’s overall footprint, downsizing the main structure from 1.5 million square feet to a streamlined 300,000 square feet. This reduction allows for expansive public green space across the grounds alongside four newly configured racing tracks. At the center of the facility stands a newly constructed five-story grandstand outfitted with contemporary dining establishments, lounges, and full-service bar areas tailored for modern event spectators.
By pairing state-of-the-art sports facilities with expanded parkland and updated dining infrastructure, the upgraded venue enhances the region’s profile for large-scale sports tourism. The comprehensive redesign establishes a sustainable, multi-use destination capable of hosting major national events while supporting local business growth across Nassau and Suffolk counties.
